Frequently Asked Questions
What is the current version of DH_Counter?Version 1.1 as released on 5th December 2005. This update fixed a bug which resulted in negative numbers being displayed in NTSC sequences when used in count down mode.
How do I get the update to the current version of DH_Counter?
Customers who checked the "Send me information about product updates and offers" option when placing their order should have received the free v1.1 update by email. Please send us an email if you still require the update.
When I unzip the downloaded file, why can't I see the plug-in?
There are two possible reasons why the downloaded file isn't unzipping correctly and showing the expected files:
- If you downloaded on a Windows system then it's important that the file isn't unzipped on that system. Copy the original zip file to the Mac and unzip it there.
- There is a bug in earlier versions of Stuffit Expander when used to unzip files. Here's how to correct the issue:
- Select the zip file in Finder
- Choose File > Get Info
- In the "Open with" section choose BOMArchiveHelper. If it's not in the list choose "Other" and find BOMArchiveHelper at
Macintosh HD/System/Library/CoreServices/BOMArchivehelper - Click the "Change All..." button
- Double click the downloaded file to unzip again
I followed the installation instructions but can't find DH_Counter in Final Cut. Where is it?
Check you're looking in the right place - DH_Counter is a video generator so it will appear in the Effects Browser in the Video Generators > Digital Heaven folder or in the popup menu on the lower right of the Viewer.
Is it possible to make DH_Counter count up to a specific time and then hold that value?
Yes, let's imagine that you want the counter to start at 0.00 and count up to 4.61:
- Put DH_Counter clip in the timeline at the default duration of 10 seconds
- Set Type to "Stopwatch" and check "include zero"
- Scrub through the timeline and you'll see that 4.61 doesn't actually get displayed but the nearest frame shows 4.60
- Locate to the 4.60 frame and razor blade the clip
- Now double click the second clip that's just been created and set the Mode to "Static" and the Static Text to "4.61"
- You'll end up with a counter that stops at 4.61 and you can drag the duration of the second clip shorter or longer depending on how much hold of the static value you want.
