Frequently Asked Questions
What is the current version of BigTime?Version 1.5.3 as released on 11th October 2007.
Can BigTime show the source timecode when playing a sequence?
No, sorry that's not possible. Much as we'd like to add that feature to BigTime, Final Cut Pro only sends out one stream of timecode data. With the Viewer active it sends out the source clip timecode and with the Canvas or Timeline active, it sends out the sequence timecode.
Why does BigTime crash on launch?
There was an issue with v1.5.1 which resulted in the application crashing if first run under a non-admin user account. This is fixed in v1.5.2 and later.
Why does the BigTime window disappear when I use Digital Cinema Desktop Preview?
If the "Digital Cinema Desktop Preview - Main" mode is used then the BigTime window will disappear. This is the correct behaviour on single monitor systems since Final Cut Pro completely takes over the output to the monitor and all windows on that monitor will be hidden. However on systems with multiple monitors, the BigTime window is hidden even when placed on a monitor not used for DCDP. This appears to be a Final Cut Pro issue since it happens with any application that uses floating windows. We have reported the problem to Apple.
The workaround for systems with multiple monitors is to choose the “Digital Cinema Desktop Preview - Full Screen” mode which uses the secondary monitor and keeps the BigTime window visible.
