Digital Heaven was founded in 2000 by ex-BBC Resources editor Martin Baker. For almost six years we provided broadcast post production facilities for clients such as the BBC, Channel Four and many independent production companies.
In Summer 2003 we became the first London facility to make the switch from Avid editing systems to Apple's Final Cut Pro. Around the same time we started software development, releasing our first product, EDL Mirror in September 2003. Since then we have added 12 Final Cut Plug-ins and Multicam Lite, the first multicamera editing solution for Final Cut Pro.
In October 2005 we released VideoSpace - a free widget for Mac OS X Tiger which calculates the disk space required for a given duration and codec setting. VideoSpace clocked up over 10,000 downloads in the first month of release and was featured as a macworld.com 'Widget of the Week' and a staff favourite on Apple's widget download page. MovieLogger for Mac OS X was released in November 2005 and has received an enthusiastic reception from customers who appreciate its clean design and simplicity.
2006 brought the addition of two new products, AutoMotion and BigTime as well as VideoSpace and MovieLogger updates and two new plug-ins. Our video podcast, Hot Tips, was launched in September 2006. Every month, Apple Certified Trainer Martin Baker gives tips for Final Cut Pro and the podcast is proving to be very popular with thousands of downloads per episode.
Final Print was released in January 2007 and enables the printing of markers from Final Cut Pro. More freeware was added in June 2008 with Disksomnia, a background utility that keeps external hard disks from spinning down. The VideoSpace disk space calculator went to the web and iPhone in August 2008 with the launch of videospaceonline.com.
In October 2008 Loader was released to streamline the copying and importing of media into Final Cut Pro. March 2009 brought the publishing of our first eBook, 'Final Cut Pro Killer Secrets' written by Martin Baker, which is now available for free.
2010 saw major new versions of BigTime, Loader, DH_Counter and DH_Reincarnation and in 2011 we released Final Print 2.0 plus DH_BoxX, DH_ReincarnationX and Transitions Pack 1 for Final Cut Pro X.
A reworked version of Edgar Rothermich's book was released with an exclusive DH_LightRays effect in January 2012. Disksomnia 3.0 was totally rewritten and released in March 2012 followed by Pro Player in August 2012, DH_SubtitleX in December 2012 and DH_CounterX in February 2013. Disksomnia 4.0 was rewritten again and released in April 2014. A major new 2.0 version of Pro Player was released in December 2015.
We're a small company that is passionate about product innovation and giving our customers the best support we can. All this is backed up by many years of real world experience in the broadcast post production industry.
